Portraiture. Food. Lifestyle. Motion.
Two decades behind the lens — from the film schools of Montréal to the wilderness of Vancouver Island.
"Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others."— Jonathan Swift
Growing up in North York, Ontario, Desh discovered at a very early age that a life in film and photography is what he wanted to pursue. Born in Sri Lanka, he journeyed to Canada at age five. At age ten, Desh stole the family camcorder to shoot his first film — developing a fascination for creating narratives with the simple use of an edit.
In 2001, he enrolled at Concordia University's Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema, where he created Lola & Me — integrating theatre, dance, painting, and original music. It premiered on Bravo! Television and the National Film Board of Canada in June 2004, receiving the Istvan Kantor Award for Innovation.
Today, Desh works from Vancouver Island as a chef, filmmaker, host, and visual storyteller — bringing the same singular eye to a fire-cooked meal in the wilderness as to a portrait session in studio.
